In the cold winter winds, director of SOS Children's Village of Vietnam (SCV), Tran Thi Kim Dung warmly greets me when I arrive at the SOS kindergarten.

It's lunch time. Inside the kids are huddled around rice bowls. But as soon as I step inside the kids pop off their seats to greet me with a big smile.

"Remember to give me the photo you took!" says one of girls when I snap a shot.

The kindergarten is one part of the SOS Children's Village of Hanoi, along with sixteen family houses, a house for adolescent boys, and the Hermann Gmeiner school for primary and secondary level pupils, including neighbourhood children.

This village offers these orphaned or abandoned children a world of security which helps reinforce a feeling of belonging and well-being...
