Many happy returns of the day!

With Christmas now nearly a week in the past, here's hoping that all your returns were happy ones - and that they're now history. I hope you remembered to seek out price adjustments, if possible, for items you actually kept. I enjoyed that much more than the actual returns.

And now, with New Year's Day upon us, here are some wishes for the new year. As was the case a few years ago, some are serious, and some are a little more tongue in cheek.

First, to parents of the college-bound, a gentle push - with a big bottle of pain-killers - toward the FAFSA forms that await you. You DID know that you can begin filling them out in January, didn't you?
