Instead they travel to the Scandinavian archives in the old countries in search of their subject matter. If their specialty is Ibsen or Strindberg, they spend their sabbaticals at the Ibsen Center in Oslo or in the Strindberg collections at the Swedish Theater Museum, the library in the Blue Tower or the Royal Library in Stockholm. Their professional identity is defined by material found in Scandinavian locations.
