MADRID, Jan. 2, 2007 (IPS) - El gran reto de los países de América Latina y el Caribe es abatir "la desigualdad económica y social" y ello "sólo será posible con un apoyo colectivo, de gobiernos, empresas, universidades, organizaciones no gubernamentales y, en suma, involucrando a toda la sociedad".

Así lo indicó el catedrático español Álvaro Marchesi tras asumir este martes como secretario general de la Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (OEI), en reemplazo del argentino Francisco Piñón, tras ocho años de gestión.

Por eso es necesario impulsar programas y acciones concretas en materia de educación y cultura "en toda la Comunidad Iberoamericana", entendiendo por tal al bloque conformado por Andorra, España, Portugal y los países de América Latina y el Caribe, agregó...
