PREP BOYS BASKETBALL

Markus Baker scored 24 points, including six three-pointers, and Brian Conklin added 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead North Eugene to a 60-48 prep boys basketball victory over Newberg in the championship game of the McNary Tournament on Friday.

The Highlanders are ranked No. 1 in the Class 5A poll.

Hosh Stouli had 19 points and Tony Torres added 15 to lead the Tigers.

Willamette 45, South Albany 42: Robert Chester scored 15 points and Craig Loper had 10 for the Wolverines in the round-robin Willamette Tournament.

Sam Knight scored a game-high 19 points for the Rebels. Willamette made 16-of-20 free throws in the win.
