CORVALLIS - A couple days after the rest of the Pac-10 opened the conference season, Oregon and Oregon State get around to opening it with the 326th version of the men's basketball Civil War today at 1 p.m. in Gill Coliseum.

Everybody ready?

`I don't think we can be as ready as Oregon, just from the experience standpoint,' OSU coach Jay John said.

Except, this isn't qute the Oregon team that was expected to take the court for the opening tip of the Pac-10. Out for sure is Malik Hairston, last season's leading scorer for the Ducks. Still trying to get their game legs are Chamberlain Oguchi and Tajuan Porter, among the Ducks who missed time with ailments in the past month.
