Two years ago, Eugene traffic engineers wanted to eliminate the last seven blocks of one-way traffic on Willamette Street and make the route two-way.

They almost made it.

Five blocks of south Eugene's signature street, between 13th and 18th avenues, were converted from one-way to two-way traffic.

But faced with concerns of neighbors and businesses, the traffic engineers kept the street one-way southbound between 18th and 20th avenues.

Now, city officials want to try again to address those worries so the two-way conversion can take place. Residents and business people are invited to a Jan. 10 meeting at Washington Park Center to begin talking with city engineers and a consultant.
