Milacron forms group to upgrade extruders

Milacron Inc. has started an extrusion aftermarket group to upgrade older extruders to improved productivity, process controls, reliability and ease of maintenance.

Special services include a one-day turnaround on controls repair and a gearbox loaner program to minimize downtime at the customer.

The Cincinnati-based company offers the rebuilding and retrofit services in North and South America on all Cincinnati Milacron-brand extruders, according to Mark Birkle, business manager of the firm's aftermarket group.

The group can upgrade extruders with several new technologies, including advanced barrels and screws, new air-cooled designs, new controls, motor and drive replacements, advanced screw-oil manifolds for precise screw heating and a new "open-core'' entry adapter body for boosting output.
