Ameriprise Financial, Inc (OTC:AMP) - Thursday's shares closed down 0.13% with a price of $54.75. The volume was at 715,700. An arbitration panel recently ruled in favor of three investors who had alleged their stockbroker at a unit of Ameriprise Financial Inc. mishandled their savings by putting them in high-fee mutual funds, handing the three an award worth about $9.3 million. The panel, organized by the National Association of Securities Dealers, said in a decision issued last week that Securities America, a brokerage unit of Ameriprise, and the broker, Robert Gormly, are liable for about $3.8 million in compensatory damages and nearly $2.5 million in costs and attorneys' fees. Securities America also was hit with an additional $3 million in punitive damages. The award includes interest on the $3.8 million in compensatory damages, starting on Jan. 1, and until the award is paid in full.
