We don't need no stinkin' transfusions! Biopure (NASDAQ:BPUR) eliminates that need through its products, dubbed oxygen therapeutics, which are designed to deliver oxygen to cells via the bloodstream. Its Hemopure, for humans, and Oxyglobin, for animals, release more oxygen to tissues than a blood transfusion, due to the fact that the molecules are 1,000 times smaller than red blood cells, the normal carriers of oxygen. The products are made of purified and processed cow blood, can be stored at room temperature for three years, do not require blood typing, and are screened for potential pathogens such as those related to HIV, hepatitis, and "mad cow" disease.

Shares were down 12%, the company says it will modify trauma trial for Hemopure.
