Why has the past become a running sore on the national psyche? This is the key question animating The History Wars; a provocative analysis of the creeping politicisation of Australian history over the past two decades. In this engaging and often alarming study, the authors trace the activities of the 'History Warriors'; a disparate coalition of pundits and politicians that has sought to overturn the 'Black Armband' view of Australian history that the warriors argue is currently pervasive throughout Australia's public institutions.
