The College of Lake County men's basketball team lost three starters from last year's squad that placed third in the NJCAA Division II Tournament. In addition, coach Shawn Chism resigned is now the head coach of the International Basketball League's Lake County Lakers.

Although the off-season was challenging, the Lancers have more than landed on their feet. That's because new coach Raphael Howard quickly won over his players, who are talented enough to put together another big season.

"He's dedicated and really motivated to making everyone better," said freshman guard Tim Schwarz, a Wauconda graduate. "He's (emphasized) defense and we're pushing the ball on offense."...
