There are three general observations to be made about this book. The first and most important is that it is serious. Whatever else may be true of systematic theology as Robert Doran conceives it, the level of rational discourse at which it operates sets it apart from much that at present goes by the name theology. It is at once specialized, rigorous, and theoretical in its approach, and comprehensive in its scope.
