Residents urged the Lane County commissioners Wednesday to buy 1,200 acres near Mount Pisgah offered by Wildish Land Co., during a hearing continued from Tuesday on whether land use rules hurt the land's value and entitle the company to compensation.

But critics say the Eugene company wants too much for the land and hasn't shown that it deserves compensation under Measure 37, the voter-approved property-rights law.
