A parade of new retailers has marched into the Eugene-Springfield area this year, offering more choices for shoppers and more competition for other stores and shopping centers during the peak holiday season.

The newcomers have run the gamut from specialty stores such as Hartwick's kitchen store at the revamped Fifth Street Public Market in Eugene to Gottschalks and Kohl's Department Store at Valley River Center and Gateway Mall, respectively.
