Article Excerpt BAUMHOLDER, Germany--Training Soldiers to be mission capable during operations such as Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom is essential, and finding inventive and interesting ways to conduct that training may be difficult at times. One Army Reserve unit located in Germany found a way to incorporate both by combining training with a competition known as the Mosby Ranger Competition.
The joint competition, named after GEN John S. Mosby, a former confederate Army general and one of the first noted rangers, is an international competition between U.S. Army Reserve units from the 7th Army Reserve Command and German Reserve units from the German Reserve Association. The competition, held at Smith Barracks in Baumholder, is designed to help foster camaraderie between U.S. and German Soldiers and help them enhance their technical and tactical skills.
