Exploring the Future Trends of Dynegy Inc. (NYSE:DYN)

Power dynamo Dynegy (short for "dynamic energy") is making dynamic changes, restructuring its operations around its electricity production unit. The company's power generation portfolio consists of more than 12,800 MW of power plants fueled by coal, fuel oil, and natural gas. Dynegy, once a top marketer of wholesale electricity, natural gas, and other commodities in North America and Europe, has sold off its energy trading unit and sold its gas processing business in 2005 to Targa Resources for $2.5 billion. It had previously divested its Illinois Power subsidiary (electricity and natural gas transmission), and it has exited the telecommunications business. Chevron owns 35% of Dynegy.
