Christmas is just around a couple of corners. The Fairmont Washington hotel (2401 M St. NW; 202/429-2400) inaugurates the holiday season with its tree-lighting ceremony from 6 to 6:30 p.m. tomorrow. The celebration is a benefit for the Marines' Toys for Tots program. The Marine Corps will present colors; entertainment will be provided by the Georgetown Visitation Madrigals; holiday refreshments will be served; and all guests are requested to bring an unwrapped gift for Toys for Tots.

From 6:30 to 9 p.m. tomorrow is also the time for the Red Hot & Rouge Cocktail Affair at Hotel Rouge and Bar Rouge (1315 16 St. NW; 202/939-6411), featuring $5 Red Ribbon-Tinis and Grand Melon Poinsettia signature cocktails, complimentary appetizers and silent-auction items.
