Payless ShoeSource helps just about any shoe enthusiast live like Imelda Marcos. The company is the #1 shoe retailer in the Western Hemisphere, with about 4,600 self-service discount stores, mostly in the US, but also in Canada, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Japan, and Puerto Rico. Payless offers dress, athletic, and casual shoes; slippers; boots; and sandals for men, women, and kids. It primarily targets women between the ages of 18 and 49. Its North American stores stock, on average, 6,700 pairs of shoes in 500 styles. The company also operates Bundles, and Tootsies (socks and accessories) stores. Payless shut down its Parade (women's shoes) division in 2004.

Shares were up 8% after strong third quarter earnings.
