Cell Therapeutics (CTI) is a toxic avenger. The firm creates more effective and less toxic treatments for various forms of cancer. Lead drug candidate Xyotax is based on Taxol, the successful cancer fighter from Bristol-Myers Squibb. It uses a water soluble, biodegradable protein to deliver the drug, allowing cancer-fighting agents to home in on tumors, as well as reducing toxic side effects. The company is exploring its use to treat non-small cell lung and ovarian cancer.
