Midway Games (NYSE:MWY) is locked in mortal combat with its rivals for the hearts of video game players. The struggling company produces sports and entertainment titles for the home console game market, including Blitz: The League, Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, SpyHunter 2, and Mortal Kombat. Midway develops its games for Nintendo's GameCube and Game Boy Advance, Sony's PlayStation 2 and Playstation Portable, and Microsoft's Xbox, as well as for PCs. It also offers classic Atari titles (such as Defender and Joust) for online game play. Viacom and CBS Corporation chairman Sumner Redstone now owns more than 85% of Midway, either directly or through National Amusements.

Shares were down 3% as Sumner Redstone's nephew launches lawsuit.
