The demand for learning Spanish is all around and nowhere is that more true than in the construction industry. With Hispanic workers swelling the ranks of construction jobs, the need to communicate effectively grows more important. That is especially true on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where rebuilding from Hurricane Katrina is underway.

At Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC), Dean Anna Faye Kelley-Winders, dean of the Community Campus in Gulfport, says there's been a marked increase in requests for Spanish instruction since the storm.
