PROJECT OVERVIEW:

In early 2006 France-based AIRBUS S.A.S. received official blessing to build its Airbus A320 narrow-body aircraft in China, in the hopes that a local plant would give it an edge over its American rival BOEING. As a result, a Sino/French joint venture was recently established in view of building an aircraft assembly plant in the country. The partners in the planned undertaking and their respective shareholdings include AIRBUS S.A.S. (51%) in conjunction with the Tianjin city government (29%) and JIANGXI HONGDU AVIATION INDUSTRY CO. LTD. (20%).
