...a series published by Peter Lang titled Linguistic Insights: Studies in Language and Communication, which began in 2001 and now approaches close to 30 volumes. Even though the series is not dedicated to research on business-related issues, it has already made an impressive mark in matters pertaining to research on business discourse. According to the publisher's note, the series aims to promote "specialist language studies, both in the fields of linguistic theory and applied linguistics." It publishes "volumes that focus on specific aspects of language use in one or several languages and provide valuable insights into language and communication research. A cross-disciplinary approach is favoured and most European languages are accepted." Under the series editorship of Maurizio Gotti, professor of English language and translation at the University of Bergamo, Italy, several volumes specifically related to business communication have been published in the past 5 years, including Intercultural Aspects of Specialized Communication (Candlin & Gotti, 2004); Business Discourse: Texts and Contexts (Trosborg & Jorgensen, 2005); and Genre Variation in Business Letters (Gillaerts & Gotti, 2005). Gina Poncini's Discursive Strategies in Multicultural Business Meetings is therefore in impressive company.

The series includes two types of books: Monographs report in-depth studies on special aspects of language theory, language analysis, or language teaching, whereas collected papers include assembled papers from conferences, symposia, and workshops.
