To play or not to play true freshmen this late in the season for the first time, that seems to be the question.

Oregon brought quarterback Nathan Costa out of his redshirt status against Portland State, and running back Andre Crenshaw is likely to follow suit on Saturday against Washington.

`It's a fact of life,' UO coach Mike Bellotti said Monday. `There are five games left (with a bowl); that's half a season.'

Washington has three games remaining - at 4-5, a bowl is in doubt - and the Huskies are still undecided about whether to play true freshman quarterback Jake Locker.

`I have not made that decision,' UW coach Tyrone Willingham said Monday. `But I do feel like it is very important to keep that redshirt for Jake.'
