For the six months ended June 30, 2004, ANSYS posted total revenue of $63.3 million ($32.7 million in software revenue and $30.6 million in maintenance and service revenue), compared to $52.2 million ($26.4 million in software revenue and $25.8 million in maintenance and service revenue) for the comparable period a year earlier. In the January-June period in 2004, ANSYS had net income of $14.7 million, compared to about $7.6 million for the same period in 2003, and diluted earnings per share of $0.90, compared to $0.56 in the comparable period a year ago.
Excluding the adverse impact on reported software license revenue of purchase accounting adjustments related to the company's February 2003 acquisition of CFX and acquisition-related amortization, ANSYS had total adjusted (non-GAAP) revenue of $63.5 million (about $32.9 million in software license revenue and $30.6 million in maintenance and service revenues) in the first six months of 2004, compared to $53.8 million (about $28 million in software license revenue and $25.8 million in maintenance and service revenue) in the first six months of 2003; adjusted net income of $16.0 million in the first six months of 2004 (compared to $10.8 million in the comparable period in 2003); and adjusted diluted earnings per share of $0.97 (compared to $0.69 for six month period ended June 30, 2003).
