'It's mine - all mine'
Here we go again. The Republican candidate for governor has come out for reducing the rate of pay for farm workers. I doubt Ron Saxton would ever try to reduce the pay of legislators, congressmen, CEOs or contributors to his campaign.
Why do Republicans always want the workers to accept less pay, longer hours, higher educational costs, fewer medical benefits, higher taxes for the working class and expect the children of workers to be cannon fodder for the Iraqi war?
It is because the Republican mantra has always been and still is: "It's mine, it's mine, it's all mine!"

Others had to wait longer
The Cuthbert Amphitheater may have some issues to address, but may I suggest that Bill Slattery (letters, Sept. 17) has some too.
He is put out over long lines to get in but has no qualms about breaking in line in front of those who had arrived even earlier than he, thereby extending their wait by two more people - a real unnecessary burden.
I sincerely hope those thoughtless people who opted to cross in front of his top-dollar, but oh so uncomfortable, seats also had a blast.
Slattery should stop whining. Maybe he isn't as important as he thinks.

Gienie Assink's Sept. 25 letter dragged out the old, tired, invalid excuse for the Iraq War that `we were attacked on our own soil.' We were not attacked by Iraq, no perpetrator was Iraqi and both the 9/11 Commission and the administration eventually acknowledged...
