Jim White is a conscientious park visitor.

On a Friday walk around Whalon Lake's dog park along Royce Road in south Naperville, for example, he stopped to pick up a discarded Tootsie Roll wrapper.

The Naperville resident recently even spent an hour and a half of his own time trimming and clearing hedges on a small path in the dog park.

"It makes it more walkable," he said.
