Almost every youngest child goes through it. And Stevenson senior quarterback Kevin Murtha was no different.

Years ago, during family basketball games in the driveway, he was the one getting his shots blocked.

And when a game of hockey in the basement got a little too rough, he was the one being rushed to the emergency room to have stitches sewn in his head. He had gotten checked into the side of a table.

Murtha remembers his frustration well. He couldn't wait to get bigger and stronger so that one day, he could throw it right back at his older ... sister.

Yep, sister.

Erin Murtha, guilty of many of the blocked shots, as well as the stitches, would also school Kevin in more constructive ways. On the basketball court, she'd show him how to make a strong move against her tenacious defense. And she was the one who taught him the proper hand positioning for catching a football.
