As many dancers will tell you, finding their ideal pointe shoe can be a career-long quest. So where do you begin? "Make the shoe fit your foot rather than your foot fit the shoe," says Kathleen Mitchell, faculty member at the Boston Ballet School and shoe manager for the company. "Just because it fits someone else's foot doesn't mean it will fit yours. Everyone's arch is in a different place." The shape if your foot, the level of your training, and your strength on pointe are all factors to consider. Don't feel overwhelmed.
