PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local ALUMINO ARGENTINO S.A.I.C. (ALUAR) recently began expanding its aluminium reduction plant in Puerto Madryn, Chubut, by some 122,500 tons per year (t/y). This upgrade project is the company's first step towards a development program aimed at repositioning it on the international market of primary aluminium producers.

In do doing, ALUAR's objective is to increase revenues by achieving economies of scale and diversifying its production into end products with high added value. The expansion mainly consists in the accomplishment of the following projects: - Construction of a new potline that will hold 144 pots, 220 kA, in two pot rooms together with its corresponding gas treatment center, substation, maintenance workshops and storage areas.
