PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local ALTO HORNOS DE MEXICO (AHMSA) is currently gearing-up to expand its steel manufacturing capacity within 2 years. According to Juan Garza, AHMS Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) and Continuous Cast Maintenance Supervisor, the investments are targeted for a plate mill and a new steel mill which will have an electric furnace, secondary metallurgy equipment and a continuous casting machine. The BOF is used to convert iron billets into steel by injecting oxygen.
