HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.-Six-hospital Memorial Health Services said last month it is looking to sell or find a partner to operate its financially troubled Anaheim (Calif.) Memorial Medical Center. Not-for-profit Memorial Health said it acquired the 217-bed hospital in 1995 and has spent $85 million over the past decade to improve its operations. The system acquired nearby Martin Luther King Hospital in 1999 and merged it with Anaheim Memorial to improve the hospital's market position. Despite those efforts, Anaheim Memorial has continued to lose between $2.5 million and $3.3 million annually for the past five years, Memorial said in a news release. It also requires about $100 million in retrofitting to meet state seismic-safety standards, the system said.
