CORINTH -- The local library was the main source for reading material when Donna Stockton was growing up in Corinth. A large part of her love of reading was shaped there, too. Maybe that's why her bookstore, Spice of Life Books & Gifts, has the look and feel of a library.

This former teacher decided to open a bookstore in 1987 when she returned to Corinth to care for her parents and there was no position available in her fields of social studies and science. There were other bookstores around but something was missing.

"I decided the town needed a good general bookstore and I turned my love of reading into a business venture," Stockton said. "I knew nothing about running a book store but I have had a lifelong love of reading."

That love began at home and was reaffirmed with a trip to the local library every Saturday where the librarian guided her...
