I am writing in response to the July 2005 commentary "Faith-Based versus Fact-Based Social Policy: The Case of Teenage Pregnancy Prevention" by Jerry D. Marx and Fleur Hopper (pp. 280-282).

As a licensed independent social worker and the executive director of an Ohio pregnancy center that operates an abstinence-only-until-marriage program, I was eager to read this article, but was disappointed by its content. Although our organization relies solely on individual donations and receives no federal funding, I felt compelled to respond to an article that I found was biased and omitted critical facts in a commentary about fact-based policy.
