EVERETT, Wash. - Stingy pitching was the order of the day Wednesday for the Eugene Emeralds as they swept a Northwest League baseball doubleheader from the Everett AquaSox.

The Emeralds allowed just six hits in 14 innings while winning the first game 1-0 and the second 6-0. The first seven-inning game was a makeup of a game that was rained out Tuesday night.

Eugene will finish the series at Everett tonight and then will travel to play a three-game series against Salem-Keizer beginning Friday.

The Emeralds close their season with a three-game home series against Salem-Keizer that starts Monday.

If Wednesday night's pitching performances had been the norm for the Emeralds, it's possible they would be battling Salem-Keizer for the West Division championship instead of being 12 games behind the Volcanoes in second place.
