One word, as much or more than any other, best describes the Aurora University football team.

Young.

Graduation and injury have given second-year coach Rich Duncan the opportunity to mold his team for years to come, as well as the challenge of competing with freshmen in a number of key roles right now.

"Coach (Jim) Scott built a great tradition here, and while I want to honor that tradition I also have to build this team in my own way," Duncan said. "We knew coming in that we would have to move forward with younger players."

Nowhere is the youth movement more evident than at the quarterback position where freshmen Matt McGary (West Aurora), Danny Manny (St. Charles North) and Griffith, Ind., import Mathew Nelleman are battling to replace injured senior Andrew Hornung, who is out for the season...
