Mind and body aren't cooperating as they should for Alexandria Anderson.

Her mind is telling her to stay focused this week and put on a show for the crowd at the USA National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.

But that message isn't getting relayed to her fleet, yet fatigued, running legs, which have experienced cramps in the quadriceps and hamstrings the past two weeks.

"My body's like, `Man, it's the end of the summer. We've done all we can do, and it's time to shut it down,' ' Anderson said. "I've never done all this stuff in a summer before."

Anderson recorded the top qualifying time in the Young Women's (age 17-18) 400 meters preliminaries Friday, when she coasted in at 54.20 seconds after experiencing cramps as...
