Officially, Craig Masback was trying to wedge a few days of vacation into a busy schedule, between the Olympic Trials in Sacramento and before the Olympic Games in Athens.

So where does the chief executive officer of USA Track & Field spend part of his vacation?

Well, it seems, at a track meet.

With his 6-year-old daughter Grace, Masback was in Eugene this week, for the opening ceremonies of the USA National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships on Wednesday evening, and for some of the competition on Thursday.

He didn't have to be here, and it says something about his affinity for all levels...
