The Lane County commissioners had harsh words this week for the state Energy Facility Siting Council and a developer who wants to build a major new power plant near Coburg.

The board accused the council and applicant Gary Marcus of trying to circumvent the siting process by failing to submit a complete application for the proposed facility to the county and then saying the commissioners had not responded adequately by the required deadline, giving the council the right to proceed toward approval.
