An Oregon National Guard soldier was killed in Iraq this week and two others injured when a bomb struck their armored Humvee in the town of Taji, about 25 miles north of Baghdad.

Brig. Gen. Douglas Pritt announced the latest casualties at a National Guard family forum at the Eugene Armory on Thursday in a session attended by Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., who criticized the administration for spreading the regular Army troops too thin and relying too heavily on the National Guard.

Pfc. Ken W. Leisten, 20, of Warrenton died Wednesday in the blast that also injured Sgt. Phillip V. Jacques, 33, of Albany and Pfc. Benjamin Ring, 19, of Blodgett.
