Mississippi malls benefit from pleasant seasonal weather.

Malls in the Deep South benefited greatly from a warmer than usual spring, particularly in Mississippi where the warmest April on record in 20 years helped rack up sales of warm-weather clothing.

According to the July issue of the U.S. Mall Report, total sales in four regions--Northeast, Midwest, West and South--increased compared to last year's levels, with the South garnering a 12% increase. Apparel and accessories accounted for the strongest sales growth (30%) in April, with theaters surprisingly not far behind with 20%. Year to date, sales productivity in the four regions continued to remain ahead of 2005 levels, with the South reflecting the most dramatic increase (3.6%).
