There is growing anger among MEPs about the failure to agree a data protection regime for the police and judiciary. At Parliament's Civil Liberties Committee on 20 June, veiled threats were made to block other key dossiers like the Schengen and Visa Information Systems (SIS II and VIS) if there was no progress on the data protection front. Austrian Interior Minister Liese Prokop from the Council Presidency did her best to assuage the MEPs, but a clash between Parliament and Council may be looming.
