There was nothing complicated about what brought Mary Langenberg to the Oregon Republican Party's platform convention at the Hilton Eugene on Saturday.

"I believe in pro-life," said the Coos County delegate, one of 300 party members who spent the day laboring over the state GOP platform that would spell out what the party stands for.

As delegates lined up for their turn at microphones for parliamentary debate, Langenberg sat silently at her table with other Coos County delegates.

The only time she raised her voice was when she joined the chorus of "yeas" that rang out each time the delegates were asked for their approval of the platform's...
