The Eugene Police Employees' Association has never had much use for the independent police auditor and civilian review board approved by Eugene voters last November.

The union's opposition is understandable. The auditor function is new to Eugene. Right now there are many more questions than answers about how the process will work. It's naive to expect anything but suspicion from union members for an untested system that moves oversight of complaints against police outside of the department....
