Barbara Schiavo walked into the foyer of her new $600,000 home, decorated in cream, black and tan.
Her husband, Emil, wasn't far behind, pushing their 1-year-old grandson, Nathan, in a stroller across the pine floor.
"You know if you change something, it'll certainly throw it off," she said of the home that has been professionally decorated. "My mauve colors won't work in this house."
Barbara noted her mother's cedar chest and her father's drop- leaf table will, at least, be coming with them.
Emil and Barbara Schiavo are the Elk Grove Village residents who won the village's new home raffle July 16. For a $50 ticket, they found themselves holding the key to a new home in the village where they've lived for 37 years.
