Cubs GM Jim Hendry is bending over backward to do right by Greg Maddux.

Good for him. He should.

Maddux is as good as they come as a Hall of Fame professional who treats the game, the fans, his teammates and organization with respect.

It's a conundrum for Hendry, the idea of shopping Maddux while being respectful of his status. But Hendry has handled this matter deftly thus far.

The good news is no matter what happens, Maddux will make it easy for the Cubs.

Regardless of the outcome, Maddux will say it's fine with him, that it doesn't matter where you are as long as you have a chance to execute.
