The Ubiquitous Group. That could be the name of The Ulum Group.

The steadily growing Eugene-based public relations firm is seemingly everywhere, advising private and public clients involved in many of the city's top news stories.

In the past year, for example, founder and chief executive Jenny Ulum has been the spokesperson for the Dan Giustina-led investor group that will bring Whole Foods Market to downtown.

She also worked as the media advisor for normally publicity shy downtown Broadway property owners Don Woolley and Tom Connor.

Until last month, Connor and Woolley and their development partner had been trying to create a shopping, entertainment and housing complex on Broadway.

And at the height of the controversy about PeaceHealth's move to build a hospital in Springfield, Ulum helped hospital executives craft their message and advised them on how to react to sometimes blistering public criticism.

"I love figuring out how to solve problems for people using what I am good at, which is communication," Ulum said.

In the past decade, Ulum's company has become Eugene's largest public relations firm, helping companies and nonprofit groups deal with the media, dampen controversy and get their messages out.

Many of Ulum's most prominent clients are big players in the steady growth and economic development of the Eugene-Springfield area. But not all. The firm also provides government lobbying for firms and trade groups, and political campaign consulting.
