For much of the season, Marist's Matt Frosland was not sure if he would be able to even get back to the OSAA Class 3A track and field championships.

Frosland battled knee and hamstring injuries throughout the spring but emerged as the state champion in the high jump Friday afternoon at Hayward Field.

Frosland was one of five competitors to clear 6 feet, and he won based on fewest misses in a competition that was hampered constantly by rain. All five of the final jumpers failed to clear 6-2.
