PROJECT OVERVIEW

US-based WESTLAKE CHEMICAL CORP. recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the government of Trinidad regarding the construction of a new ethane-based ethylene and derivatives complex in the country.

According to the terms of the MOU construction plans call for building a manufacturing base with an installed production capacity of 570,000 tons per year of ethylene that will feed other polyethylene and derivatives units.

In so doing, the project would be developed in 3 phases with the first stage requiring an input of 37,500 pounds per day of ethane...
